This is true, but it is possible to do this:

     D Item            ds                  qualified
     D  Array                              dim(30) 
     D   itemno                       7P 0 Overlay(Array)
     D   desc                        30A   Overlay(Array:*Next)

     C                   Eval      x = %Lookup(1234567: item.itemno)
