SQL aliased field referenced more than once

hey all,

I've begun creating my physical files via SQL DDL instead of DDS.   I
also thought it would be slick if I gave the fields a long name as
well.

my problem is that when I describe a field on a display file,
referencing one of these fields with the long name, the alias tags
along with the reference.   If I use the same field to reference more
than one field on a screen, the alias' conflict with each other.

Is there anyway to drop the referenced fields alias when defining a
new field on a display file?
