To be fair to Bob, these were my comments, not his... I don't think Bob
would agree with my opinion of /free!

My only point was that if we don't agree on readability in general, then
we are unlikely to see eye to eye on some things like left-hand
indicators.  I too do not want to see a readability holy war, and I may
have been a little shorter than usual with my comments (I was half-way
through a 24-hour upgrade to V5R2 and a little testy).
