Dump the error & look at the variables. Ensure that all of them are indeed 17,6. Next is G_G_Txamount large? Ie. 1,234,567,890.1234567 Next is linetax small? Ie. 0.1 Multiply them together & see if you have more than 10 digits before the decimal...18,6. If so, that might be your problem. \Vincent -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Hatzenbeler, Tim Sent: July 16, 2004 3:09 PM To: 'RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries' Subject: The target for a numeric operation is too small to hold the resul t (C G D F) I'm getting this error.... Is there an H spec to remove it, or do I use an error code to trap it.? The target for a numeric operation is too small to hold the result (C G D F) c eval p_P_tax_var = c (g_g_txamount-linetax)/linetax All four of these variables, are defined ast 17,6 So I'm ok, if I have to drop accuracy after 7 places..
