Mike, Once you've seen all the stuff you have to code to get the field descriptions, you might consider using the CrtFldList() procedures in the RPG xTools library. Or if you don't have or can't get the xTools, use the SQL Catalog which contains most of the information you need. -Bob Cozzi www.rpgxtools.com -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Martin Rowe Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2004 2:27 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Retrieving the DDS field description in an RPG program On Tuesday 13 July 2004 18:22, Dan Bale wrote: > Try the QUSLFLD API. > > hth, db > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx / mikesoucy1262@xxxxxxxx > > Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2004 12:59 PM > > > > Is there a way to retrieve the DDS field description (COLHDG or > > TEXT) value from a file that is defined on a F-spec in RPG?
