We had a problem with triggers a while back and this is what we found: The reason the trigger program had to be changed is that OS/400 would very occasionally pass an apostrophe in one of the reserved areas of the trigger buffer. Since the trigger buffer was being passed whole to all the downstream processes the extra apostrophe would cause the parameter to be truncated. After much research, it was determined that the best way to deal with the situation was to pass only the file image portion of the trigger buffer to the downstream processes. This involved a re-write of the main trigger-processing control program.
