Barbara: Understood. From the original post, the following line: 0064.00 C z-add $LIN# PNoLines resulted in the DDE. Via debug, it was apparently determined that factor 2 had a numeric value but that the result field, PNoLines, had x'40's in it. By initializing PNoLines, the problem went away. That made no sense to me but others seemed to accept it until Bob questioned it. I kept waiting for an explanation, but none came. AFAIC, there's something left out here. I can't see that changing PNoLines would make any difference no matter what the change in value was. Z-ADD doesn't work that way. At least, it never has that I'm aware of.
