The new default is ACTGRP(*ENTMOD) which basically means that the entry module for the *PGM is examined and if RPGLE, CBLLE, or CLLE to use QILE or QILETS as the default activation group. If the entry module is not one of these three, then *NEW continues to be used. Which as I pointed out in another note I fought for along time to get changed. In V5R3 IBM have changed it. Don't know the new value for the default, but it means RPG/COBOL programs will no longer use *NEW - that will be retained for C/C++ though. I _think_ COBOL and RPG will now default to QILE but have no way of checking that.
