Yet another good case for using CodeStudio or Code400 and the "Run before" options in those tools. Too bad we don't have some compiler directive like /OSCMD 'OVRDBF MYFILE TOFILE(QGPL/MYFILE)' That we could just embedded in the source code to help with the compile process. -Bob -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rick.baird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 1:47 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: opening 2 files, same name, different libraries in an RPG pgrogram Bob, I thought of that, but I don't want to have to do that override every time at compile time, nor depend on someone coming after me to actually read the notes in the program to figure out how to compile it. Booth, I don't have a problem with the 2 files having the same field names (in fact I want it that way). I guess i'll just create an empty copy of the file and be done with it. Oh well... thanks anyway Rick -----Bob said-------------- Issue an override from a dummy file name in your RPG program to the actually file name, just prior to compiling. Then use the EXTFILE keyword to point it at the correct file at runtime. -Bob Cozzi ------and Booth Said------------------------------ Have you considered using the PREFIX keyword on the second file? --------------------------------- Booth Martin _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
