Yes I agree that RPGIV will likely make his shop more productive.  That does
not necessarily translate to reduced backlogs however.  It is a common
experience that improved productivity coupled with new function & features
leads to newer and more intense requirements.

As someone else pointed out though if they don't make the leap their boss's
bosses will and a whole new system will be brought in.
