BTW, I agree that 10000.0001 is not worthy of mention any more.  It
definitely causes more problems than it solves.  I would find another
alternative......

Sorry about that, I missed one zero, it should be:

C       dspfld    mult     10000.0001    wrkfld

It will also work to convert a YYYYMMDD 8.0 numeric date to MMDDYYYY.
