Oh yes, these are great fun.  Fortunately I keep a template for this around.
Check out the following DDS (blank space compressed):
A            SFLMODE(&S1SFLMODE)
A N92        SFLDROP(CF06)      
A  92        SFLFOLD(CF06)      
A     S1SFLMODE      1A  H 

Then you use the indicator and field in the RPG code just before the EXFMT
like so:
C*                                                
C* Determine whether the subfile was folded.      
C     S1SFLMODE     IFEQ      '0'                 
C                   MOVE      *ON           *IN92 
C                   ELSE                          
C                   MOVE      *OFF          *IN92 
C                   ENDIF                         

The DDS and programmer's manuals have detailed explanations of SFLMODE.
