Rick, as I recall it, the real need for *INZSR came from the RESET opcode,
which depends on a step in the cycle where initialized storage is saved
before starting the main calcs. *INZSR lets you programatically initialize
storage before it is captured as "initialized". This lets you RESET complex
structures easily and quickly to their original initialized values. For
some reason, I've never seen RESET used much in the code I've maintained.

Hi List,

I may be mistaken, haven't used it for quite a while, but isn't the
*INZSR
run only at Program startup? I generally use a 'Setup' subroutine which I
can call on my terms when a program is possibly called repeatedly.

In a recent post, someone said something that lead me to believe we're all
supposed to be trying to get rid of *INZSR. I know it isn't "politically
correct RPG, but frankly I always thought it was kind of neat to have a
routine that executed automagically during the first cycle only.

But then again, I like grits with eggs and sausage instead of hash browns -
go figure!!
