Indeed, this should be a lesson learned that should be passed on to the next hot-shot new-tech forget-what-YOU-know-cause-I-know-better programmer. In this case, it illustrates the point that new technology does not negate the need for good design. The Java programmer failed to understand the thruput constraints involved in passing a massive dataset across a network. Buck, kudos to you for proofing the concept for this programmer. When in doubt, try it out. Sometimes the old dogs can learn too. Thanks for sharing your results with us.... The plan is to display them in an HTML table. We already have the prototype (limited result set) working and the unlimited version was tested as well. On a 256 meg PC it bombed around 85k records and 6 minutes (236/sec.) On the iSeries the job got slower and slower. We killed Tomcat at 280k records and 1 hour 40 minutes into a 1.1 million record dataset (46/sec.) This isn't really an RPG question any more, so this is my last message in the thread. I just thought folk would like to see how it turned out. --buck _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
