"Input/primary does not need you to read the records." ===>I am sorry Booth. I was referring to the file as input/primary conceptually but technically, I am reading it as a full procedural file. "C Write (e) MyFile2R You do not need nor the read loop nor to to set on *INLR. This will not copy over deleted records." ===>You know? I never think about that simple way of doing it. I will test... "You are chaining to see if the record exists in the new file. Why? Is there more to the problem than you have mentioned? Are you trying to avert duplicate records? If so, you can just use the (e) extender and ignore errors, as those will be your duplicates." ===>These are another $20.00. Before I got to the point I am now, there was a lot of issues with this input file in terms of uniqueness of the key fields. I have been changing this program a lot and I think that after all this analysis, this is a good moment to remove this piece of the code, now that I have isolated these key fields issues. It was not causing me trouble anyway but your recommendation is totally valid. I will try to work this idea out and keep you posted... Peter Vidal Pall Aeropower Corp.
