I know that it's considered in vogue to slam IBM's Reference and Concepts books. However some of the newbies have come up with some darned good programming from these manuals. And yes, we will spend money on other books, etc. But, in general they've done quite well with just the IBM books. Perhaps they've changed over the years, or the mentality of the newbies has? I guess I feel that one should understand the cycle in order to use MR effectively. I am guessing that you are comfortable with the cycle. Imagine being exposed to it for the first time, and not really grasping the difference between a primary file and the secondary files (and how that relationship changes when you throw MR into the mix!) Imagine having to learn from the RPG Reference and Concepts books... Not an inviting prospect. --buck _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
