<snip> As a result, if I want to use %FIELDS effectively I need to specify the "field name" IN THE WAY IT APPEARS ON THE RECORD LAYOUT? <endsnip> BINGO!!! Unless you RENAMEd the field. I have not renamed any field from this file. I am using EXACTLY the field names in the way they are in the record layout. However, I needed to move on with the project and I re-coded my logic to use regular RPGIV coding and using just one UPDATE operation code. The problem is gone. However, I am still unclear about the way the built-in-function should work then. Based on your feedback, will this means that an array reference like: MPPLB(RunQtr) ... will be invalid when using %FIELDS because the index "RunQtr" changes the field to be one "not in the file"? As a result, if I want to use %FIELDS effectively I need to specify the "field name" IN THE WAY IT APPEARS ON THE RECORD LAYOUT? Can you (Rob/List) elaborate a little about this?
