 Another choice is to use %found(filename).  By adding the file name in
parenthesis you get the same effect as using a named indicator.  Very neat
function that was added.  It works with %eof too.

... it would break programs that use a %FOUND
condition from a CHAIN/SETLL/LOOKUP after some intervening READxx operation.
 
I don't do that, I eval the %FOUND status into a named indicator...
