James, I just modified a program in the same manner last night and see the
exact same error as you, with and without DEBUG.  It appears that adding a
procedure to an RPG IV program invokes some stricter variable name checking.
Strange indeed, given the team's (good!) obsession with not breaking
existing source code.  Of course, adding a procedure means that the compiler
is not seeing the original, existing source code...
