And I have tried arguing easier maintenance - which they will always argue that pure ILE RPGIV is harder to maintain because of the increased number of objects and source members to keep track of! </Bob> Even if you don't use external sub procedures you can still use them internally (in your mainline program). If you separate out your sub routines into internal sub procedures your program will clean up real nice (which I am sure you know). It makes the global variables much much smaller in number. This has been my most recent "favorite feature" about RPG :-) Tell them to just give it a try for a couple months. Once they get over the hurdles of all the different ways to pass parms they will see great benefit I think, or at least they won't be so religiously refusing it.
