There's another option in V5R1, and maybe it's better, but it also
requires something extra (prototype for atoll).  In V5R2 there's a way
to do it without anything extra.  (I thought Bob had already posted it,
but I guess it wasn't explicit.)

V5R2:  YYMMDD# = %int (%CHAR(tempdate : *JOBRUN))

V5R1:
    H bnddir('QC2LE')
    ---
    D atoll        pr       20i 0   extproc('atoll')
    D   string                *     value options(*string)
    ---
         YYMMDD# = atoll (%CHAR(JobDate : *JOBRUN))
