I'm sorry, I left that out. I had the buffer redefined as an array. I modified the code to your method Rob and it actually looks like this, because of pointer math vs. index. D OUTDS E DS ExtName(XXX) Based(TbAftPtr) TbAftPtr = %addr(parm1) + NewOff; Thanks, Schadd Gray Damon Technologies, Inc. www.damontech.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <rob@xxxxxxxxx> To: "RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries" <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 4:25 PM Subject: Re: Trigger question > Where are you loading TbBufAry from? > > I take it you defined the whole trigger buffer as an array. > > Wouldn't doing this be the same thing? > D OUTDS E DS ExtName(XXX) Based(TbAftPtr) > TbAftPtr = %addr(parm1) + NewOff + 1; > > > > Rob Berendt > -- > "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary > safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." > Benjamin Franklin > > > > > "Schadd Gray" <list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent by: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx > 09/22/2003 04:03 PM > Please respond to > RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > > > To > "RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries" <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > cc > > Subject > Re: Trigger question > > > > > > > Might I suggest a different way? > > Rather that copying the data from the buffer to a data structure and back, > set the data structure equal to the address for the buffer offset. > Example: > > D OUTDS E DS ExtName(XXX) Based(TbAftPtr) > > TbAftPtr = %Addr(TbBufAry(TbAftOfs + 1)); > > Then all you have to do is update the fields in your data structure and > exit > the trigger. > > I hope this helps, > Schadd Gray > Damon Technologies, Inc. > www.damontech.com > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Eric A.
