Would this be a standard, non changing barcode in a predefined location? 
If so, then perhaps you could do an overlay and override the printer file. 
 Otherwise, what looked simple when you first started the program now 
becomes difficult when you want to make a change.  One reason to start out 
with externally defined printer files.  That way you don't go dragging and 
kicking when it becomes time to make the change.

We have the need to print a Barcode on a form that is generated by an RPG 
program that uses internally defined output specs. 

In other words, it uses RPG 'O-specs'  of code. 

It would be simple if the program used an externally 
defined print file, but it doesn't, and the job of changing over would be 
a 
huge task. The form is printed on IBM IPDS printers. Is there a way to 
code
an 
RPG output spec that will cause the IPDS printer to print a barcode?
