Yeah, I know that was a bit fuzzy. Perhaps if I'd included the source snippet,
with
the ExtFld's now included per Larry's post (not to scale):
* Data structures to receive file record data from journal:
d dsPayrollFile e ds ExtName( PRJE01 )
d dsS_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
d dsCountyFile e ds ExtName( PRJE50 )
d dsF_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
d dsRegInfoFile e ds ExtName( PRJE60 )
d dsR_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
*
* Data structures to hold the before images to
* compare to the after images:
d b4PayrollFile e ds ExtName( PRJE01 ) Prefix( b4_ )
d b4S_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
d b4CountyFile e ds ExtName( PRJE50 ) Prefix( b4_ )
d b4F_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
d b4RegInfoFile e ds ExtName( PRJE60 ) Prefix( b4_ )
d b4R_#$FSTS e ExtFld( #$FSTS )
As you can see, #$FSTS is defined in all three files. Besides the #$FSTS
field, all
the fields in these three files use a file-specific 2-character prefix. I did
not
want to further differentiate my prefix on the 'b4' images, and did not want to
add
a prefix to the first three DS's.
