>> Can I create a generic dds for the logical file???? You may find SQL more flexible - an embedded (dynamic) SELECT might do the trick? SQL is more flexible/powerful than DDS. Another approach. Use CREATE INDEX and/or CREATE VIEW in a source script and use RUNSQLSTM. Use a different script for each LF or write some embedded SQL in an RPG program to make it 'slicker'. (RUNSQLSTM no longer requires the SQL Development Toolkit.) An alternative is to write a 'DDS generator' program which reads in your (partial) DDS source code and produces a new (temporary) member with the PFILE keyword specified as desired. Use the CRTLF on the generated DDS code. How about having a permanent LF for each PF - but with the access path set at MAINT(*REBLD) - then use OVRDBF to open the desired LF? Or, a variation on the theme, having a single, multi-member LF scoped over the various PF's. Just some ideas. Brian.
