Buck, Those links refer to V5 rpg. I have stated that the V5 enhancements to RPG was a big step forward for RPG. ( it is such a good improvement that it makes efforts to develop coding techniques that apply to both V4 and V5 rpg impossible. for example, in V5 rpg your database flds are best given simple, non unique names. Where the qualified ds they are members of give them their uniqueness. In V4 rpg, database fld names are best assigned as unique names. ) My argument is that while MS is increasing its R/D and agressively courting developers ( and RPG programmers are being laid off ), IBM only has plans for minor improvements to RPG ( and, it appears, os400 ). IBM has the money. It just has to believe in its own products enough to continue to invest in them. -Steve -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Buck Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2003 2:52 PM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: v4 vs v5 rpg. was Prototypes, /COPY and LIKE() > You cite first!
