As I understand it the previous/current scheme is for 'backward' compatibility. If functionality is added to the service program over time previous programs not requiring the new functionality would not need to be re-bound. The signature they contain will still be found in the signature list. If the signature is hard coded all programs using a service program would need to be re-bound every time the current signature changed even if they don't use the new functions. Rick .
