Agree 100%.  Which is why, (in an ideal world) folks would take advantage
of formal learning resources, (classroom, e-learning, audio/visual
self-study, etc.).   Manuals are fine for reference - but serve poorly as a
self-study resource.   The Redbooks do ameliorate this.

(Sadly, in these difficult business climes, training is regarded with low
priority on the expense sheet.  But what cost ignorance???)
