I would suggest that it is worth considering the fact that the ILE environment permits you to eliminate calls to OPM programs such as Qcmdexc. Instead you can simply put the necessary code in a CL program and compile it as CLLE module instead of an executable program. The CLLE module can then be compiled into any application program using it's parameter list as standard interface. This option lets you take advantage of all the flexiblity the a CL program provides while benefiting from the performance offered by a bound call. I'm able to create the data area with no problems. The thing I'm not sure about is will I be able to access the data area from other RPG programs. How can I access a data area in RPG if I don't define the data area first? The data area is temporary and the name is a concatenation of the user name and job number. If I need to I can simply use a CL program and I think I will be ok, but I was just curious if it is possible in RPG. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
