>> So RPG was a language on the mainframe before it was used on the mini systems? And yet it died out there and became the predominant language on s/3x. Who said it died out? There are many VSE systems out there still running RPG !! Assembler, Fortran, COBOL and later PL/I became the main programming languages on mainframes - I suspect that RPG usage declined as the capability of the midrange machines increased to a point where they could handle the volumes. I've talked to a number over the last few years who were considering migrating to the 400 - mostly because VSE is going away. Jon Paris Partner400 www.Partner400.com
