Yes, but (and maybe this is my misunderstanding of Java) in pure-java you don't need to do anything. When an object passes out of scope the jvm cleans it up for you at next GC run. In this case you have to remember to actively release it, in pure java you don't. Upon re-reading my e-mail I see the confusion, perhaps I should have said they aren't cleaned up "unless you take an explicit action, an action that is unnecessary in java" -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. If the RPG calls DeleteLocalRef for the reference, Java can free the object during garbage collection. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
