Seems to me that information hiding is just implemented better in OO languages. Back when I took Data Structures in pretty vanilla Pascal, two of the key concepts in the course were abstract data types and the black box. The language didn't force you to do things that way, it was the honor system. <g> C++ is pretty much on the honor system. IIRC we had an OO RPG thread a couple of years ago that concentrated on how to simulate OO constructs in RPG. Inheritance and polymorphism were the hard ones.
