Dieing to give them a reason and having them actually act on it are often
two different things.

Bob,

I guess I believe that one should just stay current.

It always appalls me that someone wants to participate in a death spiral
by running an older release of the operating system because they believe
that it's good enough or it's all their hardware supports. What shortly
happens is less and less runs on the iSeries and gets shoved off on to
other equipment.

I guess it can be frustrating for a developer to not be able to take
advantage of the newer stuff because some customer will not upgrade.
However, as has been proven by a major software vendor at their user
conference; if you insist that they stay current then many of your
customers will give you a standing ovation because they've been dying to
give their managers another business case for staying current.
