First, let me say that activation groups are not as hard to use as first glance might indicate. See the FAQ at http://faq.midrange.com/data/cache/252.html for one attempt at a brief introduction. One thing I might add is that activation groups are very flexible so that we can design Very Complex Systems. Very few of us need that flexibility, so understanding a simple application is a pretty good basis for your real application design. One other thing. AG strategy is a design-level decision, much the same as file layouts. You don't really want to make major changes halfway through. Read the FAQ and it's references and see if that doesn't help some... --buck
