Nick,
you should look at atoi(); here's some pseudo-code:
? ? ?h dftactgrp(*no) actgrp(*new)
? ? ?h debug(*yes) alwnull(*inputonly)
? ? ?h bnddir('QC2LE')
? ? ? *
? ? ? *--------------------------------------
? ? ? * Prototype for procedure: AtoI
? ? ? *--------------------------------------
? ? ?d AtoI ? ? ? ? ? ?PR ? ? ? ? ? ?10i 0 ExtProc('atoi')
Alpha to Integer
? ? ?d ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? * ? value options(*string)
? ? ? * Mainline program
? ? ? *
? ? ? ? /FREE
? ? ? ? NumberField = atoi(AlphaField);
? ? ? ?/END-FREE

I am trying to move a
2 position alpha field
into a 2 position
numeric field.
// free
...
?Numberfield =
alphafield;
...
// end-free
When I try to compile
this, I get an RNF7416
(the types of the
right and left hand
side do no match in
the EVAL operation.
Any suggestions how to
accomplish this.
Nick
