Just to follow up, it looks like the most flexible way to do this is to use
*CTLBDY as the stack entry name.  This way I don't have to tinker with the
stack depth depending on how deep I make the decision to terminate.  Here, I
intend only to use this at the topmost level (the program directly called
from Java) so I don't see any downside risk.
