It's my dim understanding that the OPDESC problems are related to OS400 (Rochester) more than to RPG IV (Toronto). Because OPDESC modifies the way CALLP works, it requires OS400 changes. The issue is that OS400 is language-neutral. That is, it needs to have mechanisms that will support all languages. There is apparently some difficulty making OPDESC changes in OS400 that will not break one or more languages. There are several issues with OPDESC, not the least of which is that it only supports character variables. Passing separate length/type arguments is the only way to support other data types. --buck
