For *SCS there are more options available, particularly free or cheap solutions :) I used to convert *SCS reports to text files on the IFS (CPYSPLF, reformatting lines, then CPYTOSTMF) then used a Linux pc to convert them to pdf (enscript then ps2pdf) which worked well and was free. Converting *AFPDS/*IPDS is a lot more work, so you'll usually pay more for it. For a native iSeries solution for all spool types I like CoolSpools/400[1] which we've used for a couple of years now. Not too pricy and has a pile of conversion options.
