I see it being more of an advantage to software developers...  for
example...

I want to write a cool  ftp client that does things like encryption or as2.
And I want to sell it, to a lot of people..  I could write it for a windows
box, or a unix box, or even for the as/400.  But I would need the specific
skills to do so...  or I could write it, in java, and then it would run on
these other machines automagically...

.. I think it helps, the iseries because it provides us with more software
choices...  And a common ground to other platforms in the world.

But with that said...  I live and breath RPG nearly every day, because were
mainly a green screen shop...  If the Java Toolbox had native support for
DDS & PRTF's, I would be able to integrate it into our current enviornment a
little easier.. And really give OO a chance...
