This sounds like a security question not a how-to question.
Change the authority on QSYSINC/QRPGSRC and be done with it.

WRKDBF resulted in CPF4194, therefore I suspect that STRDBU would also.

I copied the source member to a source pf in my library.  Made the
change and tried to copy it back.  Disaster.  The member in the live
library got cleared.  Gee, based on the above parameters, how the blazes
did that happen?
