ALIAS in RPG

I know this was discussed about two years ago.

Can you use the ALIAS of a field in a physical file in RPG yet?  I also
noticed there was a similar concept with external data structures on the
2002 RPG Voting Ballot, so maybe that answers my question:-)

#20  $10   ALIAS name support for data structures.  Alias name is used
            instead of regular name for subfields of externally
            described data structures.
            Example:
              D struct    E DS                 EXTNAME(file:rec:*ALIAS)


My next question would be does the RPG compiler team have an update for us
as to what new features are going to be added to RPG in it's next release?
When will the next release be coming out?
