>On the minus side, that means that in order to >support clients I have to avoid the newer stuff, Welcome to the world of software houses. There is a positive benefit to seeing the new functions come out even if I can't use them straightaway. It gives me ideas for ways to code my own functions. The point being that I can hand-code a function today and target the V4R2 compiler, but when all my customers move to a more modern release I can use the new functionality. I am working on a generic build/make tool that will toggle the proper version of the service program for the target release. It will help my RPG and CL code but not the Synon stuff. --buck
