I think that the questioner means testing that the display looks OK before
writing the RPG program. This is not so easy when you use message files
for your constants, as you don't see the actual text when you are
designing the screen. Hence, the use of option 3 to test the display file
in SDA......

The first question comes to mind is
How are the users going to test.? If you find it hard to test, then the
users are as well.

Is there a way to test a display file from an AS400 command line?  The
display file that I am changing uses all message files for the text on the
screen, so, when I look at it in SDA, it shows as all 0's or X's.
