Gary, >Sequenced (ascend/descend) arrays no longer use >sequential lookup. They instead take advantage of binary search, a >pretty darn fast mechanism. But only when using the new BIFs. The LOOKUP opcode still performs a linear search. Another reason to use the BIFs is you can specify the last element to search. This lets you name a variable holding the last "used" element number to limit the search. To me this is cleaner than plugging the search value into the first unused element to ensure it doesn't iterate the entire array. Or filling the array backwards from the end and naming a start element. Doug
