Service programs and level checks

Searched the archives; couldn't find a reference to this topic.

I understand that if a module uses a database file, and that file has to be
recreated(new fields added/changed), the module will have to be recreated
with the new file version in order to prevent a level check.

Does the service program have to be recreated?
