-- -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I agree. This conversation is silly. Labeling two bits of data in the same application as "unrelated" demonstrates just how differently you and I view data. Further to that, I guess I really have no idea what a server is. I was not talking theory Joe. I was talking nuts and bolts real-world stuff So long as you slice vertically you are destined to a life of trying to gain performance through hardware solutions. If you'll slice horizontally you'll see performance improve, your programs develop faster, and they'll live longer. (by the way before you get to upset You are the one that chose "A design philosophy question" as the subject line, not me. It sounds to me as if your questions are specific questions about implementation, not design. You ve already decided your design.) In any event, best of luck on your quest. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@MartinVT.com --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: rpg400-l@midrange.com Date: Sunday, September 29, 2002 08:57:35 PM To: rpg400-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: A design philosophy question > From: Booth Martin > > Joe you miss my point. If you have one program that updates unrelated pieces of data, then you and I differ fundamentally on what a server does, and we really have no common ground. In any event, this discussion does nothing to answer my fundamental question, which is what to do when I have two display files in one application. Why I have two display files is not at issue; how to segment the code is the question. It's a real, working question, not a matter of theory. I was wondering what other people did in this situation, not trying to debate application architecture.
