Presuming you mean that you have a field with an embedded quote like such:

dcl &slt *char 50 'Four O''Clock'
opnqryf master qryslt('NAME *EQ ' *cat &slt)

You need to pre-process the search string so you don't have a single quote.
Double it up; that is, use two single quotes.  That tells the system that
you really only want one.
