Elonna, I'm not at all sure why chaining by rrn isn't retrieving the subfile records. This should work. a couple things you might look at: are you using the same RRN field name described in the F spec keyword? is the same RRN field described in the subfile record? (as a hidden field maybe) another method you might try is that when you write records to your subfile, use an activated (either by indicator on or no indicator) the SFLNXTCHG keyword. This causes all records to be 'changed' whether they've been keyed into or not. of course this could significantly slow your program down if you are apt to have a large number of records in your subfile - and would certainly imply that you might update all related records in the PF every time the user presses enter. but if it's not a significant number of records, the speed loss would be minimal hth, rick
