>So the variable trick doesn't work there then? The whole point of activating a program in an AG is to make it 'stick' in storage so you don't have to go through the work of activating it again. I haven't done testing on CALLs using variables to a program in an existing AG (which is sort of the OPM situation.) I wasn't too clear in my very first email on this, but this will NOT re-resolve the pointer in RPG III: move 'BUCKPGM' PGMNAM call pgmnam ...do something call pgmnam because the contents of the variable haven't changed. The system will resolve the pointer only if the contents of the variable change between CALLs. Like I said, I haven't tested this situation for an already active AG but I suspect that the system would not re-resolve the pointer, but return a pointer to the already activated program instead of a newly compiled one. --buck
