Need more information....

1) If you DON'T have a line description that allows autoanswer {SWTCNN(*ANS)
or SWTCNN(*BOTH) }varied *ON on the port that the modem is attached to, then
the modem will not answer.  There are also additional parameters, depending
on whether it is Synchronous, Asynchronous, or *PPP.

2) Need to see the line description parameters for the line defined on the
port.

I have a modem attached to the AS400 that will not answer.  I have switched
modems but the new modem will not pick up either.  Is there something on the
AS400 that I need to check to allow the modem to answer...
I hooked a phone to the line that the modem uses and it works fine.
